A man has been killed and another seriously injured after being shot at a courthouse in central Copenhagen on Tuesday (September 16th).

Kristian Aaskov, head of security of Copenhagen police told reporters: “I can confirm that two people were hit by gunfire and one of them has died.”

Police said the shooter, who fired several shots at the bailiff’s court near the City Hall, has been arrested and a sawn-off shotgun has been seized. The reason for the attack has yet to be determined, but Chief Justice Soren Axelsen told local TV2 News that a family conflict might be a factor behind the tragedy.

The crime scene has been cordoned off as armed officers and forensic units are conducting investigations.
