On 25 July 2016 she was sentenced by Judge Beddoe at Southwark Crown Court to 8 months’ imprisonment for each offence, to be served concurrently. A further 4 offences were ordered to be left on file.

Judge Beddoe described her actions as incompetent and said that she had put her interests above anyone else’s. She was not qualified and whatever qualifications she held in her home country, she was not qualified here in the UK. He found that she had committed the offences on a commercial basis.

Speaking about the decision, Deputy Immigration Services Commissioner, Dr Ian Leigh, said: “The OISC is here to ensure that people seeking immigration advice are treated fairly by people they can trust to be fit and competent. Ms Sirine Parween chose to operate outside the law.

“I hope this sends a clear message to other people considering providing immigration advice – act within the law or you will find yourself in court”.
